Comedian Ricky Gervais has joined other celebrities in a comic book campaign that aims to “tackle both the climate and biodiversity crisis.”
Known as “Rewriting Extinction,” the 12-month campaign is funding seven wildlife projects: Greenpeace, World Land Trust, Born Free, Re:wild, The Wildlife Trusts, Reserva, and Rewilding Europe. For “Rewriting Extinction,” celebrities, writers, artists, and environmentalists are working together to create comics covering a range of issues from deforestation to animal extinction.
Gervais teamed up with artist Rob Steen to create his comic “Bullfight,” to protest the act of bullfighting and its treatment of bulls.

“A beautiful animal, literally tortured to death as entertainment. Psychotic. F— anyone who enjoys or defends it,” Gervais told The Guardian.
Since the inception of “Rewriting Extinction” in June, more than 300 celebrities, environmentalists and artists have come together to create over 150 comics.
Prior to November’s Cop26 climate summit in Glasgow, “Rewriting Extinction” will be releasing an anthology of the comics, called, “The Most Important Comic Book on Earth.”
