“I wanted to get a sense for whether, in the event of a strained transition of government, she would help give Biden and his team the best chance to be effective,” Slavitt writes in the book, CNN reported.

Birx was one of Trump’s most visible coronavirus advisers early on in the pandemic before falling out the former president’s favor and being replaced by Scott Atlas, a radiologist with no epidemiological experience. She was sidelined from her role and spent her time traveling around the country providing data to local officials on the status of the pandemic.
CNN reports she had invited Slavitt to the briefing in Minnesota. Slavitt advised several officials on the pandemic during the Trump administration, including Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
