Financial giant Morgan Stanley is requiring employees and visitors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 when staff return to its New York offices next month.

“Starting July 12 all employees, contingent workforce, clients and visitors will be required to attest to being fully vaccinated to access Morgan Stanley buildings in New York City and Westchester,” chief human resources officer Mandell Crawley said in a memo obtained by the Financial Times

Employees who fail to do so will have to continue to work remotely and will lose building access, according to the memo.

The memo noted that the “overwhelming majority of staff” have already confirmed they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19. The requirement will allow Morgan Stanley to lift mask and physical distancing protocols in its offices.

The policy relies on an honor system and doesn’t require employees to provide proof that they indeed received the immunization.

The move follows similar actions by other large financial firms.

Asset manager BlackRock is only allowing vaccinated staff to return to its office next month.

Goldman Sachs said earlier this month it is requiring employees in the U.S. to report their vaccination status but is not requiring employees to get the shot. Meanwhile, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America are encouraging employees to disclose their vaccination status voluntarily.
