Elliott’s agent Rocky Arceneaux told the NFL Network that the Pro Bowl running back did in fact test positive, but is feeling good. The identity of the other players is not known at this time. It is believed the players did not contract the virus in team facilities.

“Due to federal and local privacy laws, we are unable to provide information regarding the personal health of any of our employees,” the Cowboys said in a statement to ESPN. “We are following all CDC, local and NFL guidelines to keep our facilities safe, including limiting employee access.”

The news comes as Texas — and its largest city, Houston — is currently experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. The number of people in Texas hospitalized from the coronavirus hit a high of 2,287 this past weekend as the state continues to move forward with its reopening plan. Texas was among the first states to begin easing statewide stay-at-home orders.

Other states including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Oregon, Florida, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Utah are experiencing rises in infections. Utah and Oregon put their plans to continue reopening on hold, as other states are continuing to move forward with easing coronavirus restrictions.
