More than 150 people were fatally shot during a 72-hour period over Fourth of July weekend, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
The archive compiles data from more than 7,500 sources of local and state police, media, data, government tallies and additional sources.
In Atlanta, professional golfer Gene Siller was shot and killed on a golf course, where two others were found shot dead in what is believed to be a related incident. The police have yet to identify or locate a suspect.

In Chicago, CNN reported 83 people were shot over the weekend, and 14 of those people were killed between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday.
In New York, which has seen a surge in gun violence recently, last week’s crime stats reported five fewer shootings than the same period last year. This weekend, 26 people were shot in 21 separate shootings, down from 30 people who were shot in 25 shootings over the same period last year.
