Virtual Event: Mental Health and the Holidays

Mental Health and the Holidays

As we head into the holiday season, there is a lot to look forward to: snowy nights, family traditions, hearty meals. For many in the United States, the holidays also mark the start of something less joyous: the onset of seasonal depression.

While it’s normal to experience the winter blues, many are affected more acutely during this time with disorders such as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). About 1 in 20 people in the northern half of the United States experience more intense depression, and women are four times more likely to experience it than men. This year, after waves of the coronavirus have swept across the country and millions have still not returned to normal life, the problems of SAD will be even more acute.

Join Changing America for a timely event to explore the connection between the holidays and mental health. Our experts will speak about the best ways to make the season into a more positive experience.
