Apple has developed a new website and app in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the White House and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that will provide screening for COVID-19 symptoms and up-to-date information about the coronavirus pandemic.

Apple said Friday it released the new screening tool and set of resources to help people “stay informed and take the proper steps to protect their health during the spread of COVID-19, based on the latest CDC guidance.”

The app is available on Apple’s App store, and the website can be accessed from Mac, Windows or Android phones and computers.

The app and website prompt users to answer a series of questions about risk factors, recent exposure and symptoms for themselves or a loved one. Users will then receive CDC recommendations on the next steps, including guidance on social distancing and self-isolating, how to monitor symptoms, when to contact a medical provider and whether or not a test is recommended.

Apple says users will not be required to sign in to access the coronavirus software, and individual responses will not be provided to Apple or federal agencies.

Along with the COVID-19 app, Apple has now updated Siri so users can ask, “How do I know if I have coronavirus?” Users will be provided with a step-by-step questionnaire and CDC information.

This comes as the United States has become the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak with the largest number of confirmed cases. More than 90,000 cases have been confirmed with more than 1,300 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University tracker
