Shared Destiny. Shared Responsibility.

This is where your state stands on reopening during the coronavirus pandemic

Story at a glance

  • Stay-at-home orders are being issued by local and state governments as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
  • While all states have declared emergencies, some have not yet issued statewide stay home orders.
  • Almost 300 million Americans across at least 38 states, 48 counties and 14 cities have been asked to stay at home.

In lieu of a nationwide stay-at-home order, governors across the country have taken their constituents’ public health safety into their own hands. Here is the latest for residents of the 50 states and six territories in the United States (and compare it to their estimated peak dates for coronavirus deaths and resource use):

Alabama

After declaring a public health emergency, Alabama issued a stay at home order on April 3 until 5 p.m. on April 30.
