The city’s health department reported 56 new cases in the past 24 hours. Nashville has recorded a total of 6,627 confirmed cases with 80 deaths.

Nashville, more than three weeks ago, moved into phase two of its reopening plan, allowing restaurants and retail stores to open at 75 percent capacity, while bars remain closed. Community centers, golf course clubhouses, museums and other facilities opened at 50 percent.

Phase three would allow grade schools to reopen and services like salons, restaurants and retailers to open at full capacity, while businesses like bars and clubs would be allowed to operate at half-capacity.

Alex Jahangir, head of Nashville’s coronavirus task force, said almost half of all new cases in the past month occurred in southeast Nashville, and the city plans to offer more testing and contact tracing in the region, CNBC reports.

The news out of Nashville comes as cases in states such as Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Utah have been on the rise since just before Memorial Day, when many states began easing stay-at-home restrictions.

The U.S. has recorded more than 2 million coronavirus cases with more than 113,000 deaths.
