The news out of Oklahoma was announced as at least 20 states have seen increases of COVID-19 cases this week. Some have also recorded rises in hospitalizations, prompting some cities and states to delay reopening plans. The increase in cases has caused some concern among public health officials who worry people are not adhering to measures meant to curb the virus’s spread.

Trump’s upcoming rally in the city of Tulsa will be his first since the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. prompted the shutdown of large gatherings to try to mitigate the spread of the virus, and comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned on Friday that large gatherings in confined places pose the highest risk for spreading the coronavirus.

The risk of coronavirus has prompted the Trump campaign to require attendees of the Tulsa rally to agree not to sue the campaign if they become infected with COVID-19.

“By attending the Rally, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.; BOK Center; ASM Global; or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury,” the disclaimer from the Trump campaign reads.

The U.S. this week surpassed more than 2 million cases with more than 114,000 deaths. Worldwide, more than 7.5 million cases have been reported.
