Hundreds of New Yorkers were given expired COVID-19 vaccine doses earlier this month at a pop-up vaccination site in Times Square.
The Associated Press reports 899 people received expired doses at the former NFL Experience building in Times Square between June 5 and June 10.

Health department officials are reaching out to residents who received the expired doses and are urging them to receive another shot. Officials emphasized that there is no danger from the vaccine they received.
“We have communicated with Pfizer, which recommended that the patients receive another dose as soon as possible,” a health department spokesperson told Changing America.
“While there is no safety risk for the patients, the re-administration is being carried out to ensure that the individuals are fully protected. Those patients have received e-mails, phone calls, and are also being sent letters to make sure they are aware of this situation,” the health department spokesperson said.
The vendor that administered the shots at the vaccination site, ATC Vaccination Services, apologized in a statement and said the doses were in a freezer too long, according to ABC 7.
The city replaced the vendor after being notified of the issue and placed a new provider at the vaccination site.
The news comes as the city lifted COVID-19 restrictions this week after reaching its goal of vaccinating 70 percent of adults.
“That means we can return to life as we know it,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) tweeted Tuesday.
