Joe Rogan has contracted the coronavirus.
The controversial podcaster made the announcement on his Instagram on Wednesday, stating he felt “very weary, I had a headache,” and “just rundown.”
Rogan said he has tried a multitude of medications and treatments, such as monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, the steroid prednisone, an antibiotic Z-Pak and a vitamin drip.
Ivermectin is typically used for parasitic infections in animals such as horses and cows. It has been used with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval in specified doses for humans suffering from intestinal parasites such as worms. However, it isn’t intended or used to treat viruses.
Amid a surge of prescriptions for the drug, as well as an increase in people purchasing the version of the drug meant for livestock, the FDA has warned of the dangers.

“The FDA has received multiple reports of patients who have required medical support and been hospitalized after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for horses,” the FDA said, adding, “Animal drugs are often highly concentrated because they are used for large animals like horses and cows, which can weigh a lot more than we do—a ton or more. Such high doses can be highly toxic in humans.”
Rogan faced backlash in April for saying young, healthy people don’t need the COVID-19 vaccine. He later walked back these comments, saying, “I’m not a doctor, I’m a f—ing moron. I’m not a respected source of information, even for me. … But I at least try to be honest about what I’m saying.”
