As Changing America previously reported, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not recommended either ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine as COVID-19 treatments.
Allen West developed pneumonia as a result of his COVID-19 on Saturday, CNN reported.
It is worth noting that Angela West was vaccinated but still contracted the virus at some point after a political fundraiser, The Guardian reported.
Allen West is running on a platform that “supports individual choice and this is reflected in his own family,” according to one of his tweets.
1/ After taking COVID and flu shots, Angela West tested positive for COVID yesterday, Friday. Col. West is experiencing a low grade fever and light body aches. Out of concern for public health, Col. West is suspending in-person events until receiving an all-clear indication. pic.twitter.com/Cwpc2XkWVG

2/ Col. West will be available through virtual means to do events until his family’s health issue is rectified.
He is already taking Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin protocols.
The West family thanks y’all for your prayers. “God’s blessings and Texas First!”

3/ CLARIFICATION: In reading the comments, it appears there is some misunderstanding: Dr. Angela West received the vaccine. LTC West did not. LTC West has publicly stated he supports individual choice and this is reflected in his own family.

The Wests were admitted to Medical City hospital in Plano, Texas, but only Angela West was released.
The retired U.S. army lieutenant colonel represented Florida’s 22nd congressional district in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2013, and he served as the chairman of the Republican Party of Texas from 2020 to 2021.
He is also one of the faces of the anti-vaccine movement, vowing to “vehemently crush anyone forcing vaccine mandates” in Texas.
“After this experience, I am even more dedicated to fighting against vaccine mandates,” he wrote. “Instead of enriching the pockets of Big Pharma and corrupt bureaucrats and politicians, we should be advocating the monoclonal antibody infusion therapy.”
“As governor of Texas, I will vehemently crush anyone forcing vaccine mandates in the Lone Star State,” he added.
