Fred Aleguas, the co-managing director of the Florida Poison Information Center in Tampa, told Fox13 that the patients “presented with significant clinical effects like blood in their urine, spontaneous bleeding from their nose [and] easy bruising.”
“I would not be surprised if we ended up with some fatalities,” Aleguas said.
Authorities are not yet sure where the spice leading to the severe symptoms is being sold, but they believe the outbreak started over a week ago and are asking residents to stop using the substance. The compounds in question are being tested.
