Sen. John McCain’s wife reveals to The Hill’s ITK his belated birthday present

Spoiler alert (but only if you’re Sen. John McCain) …

The Arizona Republican’s wife, Cindy, reveals that she’ll soon bestow a belated birthday gift upon her husband.

{mosads}McCain turned 76 on Wednesday, the same day that he delivered a speech to a packed audience at the Republican National Convention.

At a bash held by Lifetime Television and Got Your 6 following McCain’s address, Cindy told ITK about the birthday present she picked out, “What he doesn’t know is that it’s back at our cabin. I bought a brand new barbecue for him.”

The senior senator, who “loves” grilling up a storm, according to his wife, is pretty particular when it comes to his meat-cooking machinery.

“He’s really picky about his barbecues. The last one I got him he didn’t like, so I had to research this.”

Now Cindy has upped the ante, saying her latest attempt at a bodacious barbecue “does all kinds of things to ribs.”

It’s not the first time ITK has heard about McCain’s crush on cookout cookwear. When asked in February what he was getting his spouse for Valentine’s Day, he replied, “Maybe, you know, we need a new barbecue. That would be something she would be attracted to.”

And, if what McCain said earlier this year is true, Cindy McCain might have ulterior motives with the purchase of her birthday surprise.

“She likes to watch me barbecue,” the lawmaker said. “It’s very romantic.”
