American Airlines investigating after employee allegedly hit mother with stroller
American Airlines says it is investigating an incident in which a flight attendant allegedly hit a woman with her baby’s stroller while she was boarding a plane Friday night at a San Francisco airport.
A video of the incident was shared by another passenger on the flight and shows the mother sobbing and holding her child after the alleged incident took place. There is no video of the woman being hit by the stroller.
The fellow passenger, Surain Adyanthaya, posted the video on Facebook with the caption: “OMG. Flight attendant violently took a stroller from a lady with a baby on my flight, hitting her and just missing the baby. Then he tried to fight a passenger who stood up for her.’’
Another passenger in the video stands up to confront the flight attendant saying “you do that to me and I’ll knock you flat. You almost hurt a baby.”
The American Airlines employee responds “stay out of it.”
{mosads} American said in a statement the employee has been taken off duty and the incident is being investigated.
“The actions of our team member captured here do not appear to reflect patience or empathy, two values necessary for customer care. In short, we are disappointed by these actions,” American said in a statement. “The American tam member has been removed from duty while we immediately investigate this incident.”
The incident comes after United Airlines made waves by dragging a passenger off an overbooked flight after he refused to voluntarily give up his seat.
