Puerto Rico’s Fiscal Future: What’s Next for America’s Largest Territory?

Less than 1,000 miles off the coast of Florida, Puerto Rico is suffering from an unprecedented financial collapse that has left the territory with a nearly 50% poverty rate and $72 billion in debt.
On November 17, The Hill and The Capitol Forum held a policy discussion on Puerto Rico’s fiscal crisis. Policymakers, economists, and academics explored the potential for government intervention, the prospects for pro- and anti-bankruptcy stakeholders, and the effect of Puerto Rico’s debt crisis on the 2016 elections and beyond.
