Work Redefined

Session 1

Session 2

Session 3

The nature of work is changing. In a few short months, coronavirus has irrevocably altered how we work, where we work and who gets to work. These changes will have a cascading impact on how we learn and prepare to join the workforce. At the same time, it is also compelling policy leaders and stakeholders to ponder the future of work.

The Hill will convene employers, economists, innovators, policymakers, and insightful futurists to discuss what lies ahead for America’s workforce and economy.

Wednesday, September 23

Sessions beginning at 11:00AM ET

Session 1: Coronavirus and the Workplace (11:00AM – 12:30PM ET)

As workers retreat from office buildings to the safety of home, what are we doing to ensure productivity in the midst of a global health crisis? How has the pandemic altered the nature of work?

Session 2: Technology @ Work (1:30PM – 2:45PM ET)

Connectivity is taking on a new urgency. What technologies and tools do we need to keep businesses and the economy humming even as a pandemic creates limitations? How can socioeconomic barriers and the digital divide be addressed with smart policies and initiatives?

Session 3: The New Workforce (3:30PM – 5:00PM ET)

Questions about the future of work abound. Do we know enough today to make thoughtful predictions about the workers of tomorrow and what should we be doing to create pathways to opportunity? Is re-skilling the answer for those who find themselves left behind by the pandemic? What roles are more relevant now and will they endure?
