Reset 2021: A New American Start

Session I

Session II

The election of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris brings with it the expectation of a new era in Washington, DC, and many policy shifts.

As with any presidential transition, priorities and goals will be recalibrated. The incoming administration has outlined a broad policy framework with proposals focused on improving infrastructure and expanding universal access to broadband, revitalizing immigration, supporting environmental sustainability, providing meaningful support to those harmed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and, of course, reviving the economy.

Looking ahead to the first 100 days — what measures will be used to drive economic recovery? Biden’s plan to “build back better” includes an emphasis on America’s roads, bridges, airports, transportation, and broadband—what should we expect these initiatives to entail? How is environmental sustainability being prioritized, and what are experts recommending as immediate actions? After the Trump administration’s rollbacks on immigration policies, how will Biden engage with immigrants, refugees, and migrants, and what are his most pressing goals?

The Hill will convene political leaders and policy experts to explore how and where policy “resets” are expected to happen. We’ll take stock of the equities in these debates and envision how a new political equilibrium will unfold.
