U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s now-famous joint press conference in Helsinki provoked worldwide discussion but aside from their words, both politicians were also sending messages through their physical movements, according to body language expert Chris Ulrich. He joined “Rising” on Monday to analyze the two leaders’ gestures and posture and to discuss both men’s apparent emotional signals. Ulrich also discussed Trump’s earlier meetings with other heads of state at a NATO conference.
According to Ulrich, Trump is generally “fantastic” at using body movements to project dominance in conversations and meetings, including in his handshakes. “He will get in your head before he even sits down with you,” Ulrich said.
