Full interview: Democratic candidate J.D. Scholten talks about his run against Steve King in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District

Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King, an immigration hard-liner who has promoted a self-described Nazi sympathizer on Twitter, has long been a controversial figure in U.S. politics.

Despite his propensity for attracting negative attention, however, King has generally had a relatively easy time getting re-elected by local voters. This year, King is facing a new Democratic opponent, J.D. Scholten, a former professional baseball player.

Scholten joined “Rising” on Thursday to discuss his campaign in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.
