Hill.TV host Krystal Ball said on Tuesday that despite Omarosa Manigault Newman’s recent high-profile criticism of President Trump, the former White House adviser has emulated the president.
“One thing that really struck me being here yesterday and meeting her is that there was no one that she reminded me more of in that first interaction meeting her than Donald Trump,” Ball said on “Rising.”
“The first time when I met him, he was all charm,” Ball said, referring to Trump. “He knew who I was. ‘Oh my god, Krystal, I love your work, it’s great to meet you.’ Very similar exchange with Omarosa. It’s just very clear to me, and she said it in the interview, that she wanted to be like Donald Trump. She wanted to be rich and successful and known and famous.”
“She has emulated him to a great degree, and it’s gotten her to this place,” Ball said.
Ball’s comments come as Manigault Newman promotes her new book, “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House.”
Manigault Newman, who was a contestant on the NBC TV show “The Apprentice” and other reality programs, has made headlines on her book tour, from saying Trump is in mental decline to accusing him of using the N-word during production of “The Apprentice.”
The former White House adviser sat down with Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons on Monday and said she aspired to be successful like Trump.
“Why did I get on ‘The Apprentice’? I was aspirational. I wanted to be like Trump,” she said. “I wanted to be wealthy. I wanted to own businesses. I wanted to be a success.”
