Dem strategist: Anonymous op-ed author ‘brave,’ but sets ‘dangerous precedent’

Democratic strategist Jennifer Holdsworth called the op-ed published in The New York Times by an an unnamed senior Trump official “extremely brave,” but warned that it sets a “dangerous precedent.”

On Wednesday, a senior administration official published the op-ed criticizing the president, and claimed to part of a group of senior White House officials working against the president’s “misguided impulses.”

Trump lashed out just hours after the article was published, demanding that the publisher reveal the author of the op-ed “for National Security purposes.”

“I actually think this was extremely brave,” Holdsworth told Hill.TV co-hosts Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton.

“Them coming out and saying that there is a streak in the White House of people trying to defend the Democracy from the president is both interesting and a dangerous precedent,” she continued.

Holdsworth, who is the chief revenue officer of DSPolitical, added that she would like to see the anonymous Trump official to come forward “sooner rather than later.”

But the strategist thinks the anonymous op-ed also shows exactly what’s lacking in Trump’s White House: courage.

“It’s not intelligence, it’s not an opinion, it’s not knowing what this administration is going to do – it’s pure courage,” she said.
