Flippable founder and CEO Catherine Vaughan said in an interview that aired Monday on “Rising” that traditionally red states could turn blue in the 2020 presidential election.
“There are a lot of states where we made incredible progress on Tuesday, and we just need to keep that momentum going,” Vaughan told Hill.TV’s Krystal Ball on Friday. Flippable is a data company aimed at flipping Republican states and districts in elections.
“Pennsylvania is one state I mentioned, you know, a perennial swing state, a really important state in the 2020 elections,” she continued.
“Florida, we still need to keep going. There’s still a chance that the votes will come in for [Andrew] Gillum, and that could be a gamechanger,” she said, referring to the Democratic nominee in the state’s gubernatorial race. “With so many voting rights restored in Florida, the landscape is going to change by a large margin.”
“States like Michigan, where we were able to flip a ton of seats on Tuesday, and that was also a really decisive state,” she said.
“I think that even states like Texas and Arizona, which for a long time have been seen as Republican territory, we’re making huge progress there. Beto [O’Rourke] came within 1.5 points. Kyrsten Sinema’s in the lead right now. These states, they’re turning, and I think they could turn more in 2020,” she said, referring to the Democratic nominees in Senate races in Texas and Arizona, respectively.
Vaughan’s comments come as gaps continue to narrow in high-stakes races.
Recounts are underway in Florida’s Senate and gubernatorial races, while Sinema was declared the winner over Rep. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) in Arizona’s Senate race.
