Ex-FBI official: ‘Links and coordination’ with Russia happen everyday

Former FBI official Kevin Brock on Friday told Hill.TV’s that “links and coordination” with Russia happen every day in the U.S.

“The Mueller report’s exposure of these Russian active measures is a good thing,” Brock, the former FBI assistant director of intelligence, told hosts Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton on “Rising.”

“It should raise awareness, but the mandate given to the special counsel was to examine ‘links and coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.'”

“If links and coordination is a standard for investigation, then there are a number of businessmen, politicians [and] academics in this country who would have to be subject to the same type of investigation. It happens every day,” he said.

“That type of links and coordination goes on on a daily basis with the Russian government and Russian businesses,” he said.

Attorney General William Barr on Thursday released a redacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia’s election interference.

The special counsel’s office described how Russians attempted to help Trump win the 2016 election, but said that the Trump campaign did not directly work with Moscow in that effort.

Mueller detailed how a Russian troll farm connected to the Kremlin worked to create divisions among the American public on social media.

The report also discussed how Russian intelligence officers hacked both the Democratic National Committee and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton‘s campaign chairman John Podesta.
