Republican National Committee (RNC) spokeswoman Liz Harrington said on Monday that the party is not concerned about the 2020 field of Democrats posing a threat to President Trump.
“At this point, certainly at the RNC, we’re not very worried about any of them,” Harrington told Hill.TV’s Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton on “Rising.”
“On the one hand, you have Joe Biden, and if he’s going to get this nomination, he’s going to have to join the leftist, leftward pool that’s happening in the Democratic Party right now,” she continued, referring to the former vice president.
“Total embrace of radical ideas, throwing out the Electoral College, packing the Supreme Court,” she said, referring to policy proposals from various 2020 Democratic candidates.
Trump has taken particular aim at Biden recently.
Many have viewed Trump’s attacks on Biden as a sign that the president perceives the former vice president as a threat in 2020.
Biden has surged in a number of polls since announcing his presidential bid last month.
However, Harrington told Hill.TV the polls showing Biden’s lead do not concern her.
“I think the polls also showed that Hillary Clinton was going to win the entire race in 2016,” she said. “You can’t really trust the polls at this point.”
