Trump campaign aide: Every time Democrats take debate stage, Trump wins

A Trump campaign aide on Thursday said in an appearance on Hill.TV that every time 2020 Democratic presidential contenders take the stage the president wins, adding that many of the White House hopefuls are “alienating” voters with policy proposals such as the Green New Deal.

“Every time they take the stage, President Trump wins because the things they are talking about are alienating so many American voters — not just on the right but even in the middle,” Marc Lotter director of strategic communications for the 2020 Trump campaign, said on “Rising.”

Lotter insisted that the Trump campaign isn’t concerned about the outcome of the Democratic presidential primary race.

“We’ll focus on our race, which is in November of next year,” he said. “Once we have a candidate on their side we’re sure that they’re going to be broken and they’ll have done things like endorsing the Green New Deal.”

Lotter’s comments come as 10 Democratic presidential candidates prepare to take the debate stage Thursday night in Houston.

The third round of debates will be headlined by front-runners former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). All three contenders lead Trump in a hypothetical matchup against Trump in the Lone Star State.

The latest Univision News Survey of Texas showed Sanders leading Trump 48 percent to 42 percent. Biden holds a 4-point leader over Trump at 47 percent support, compared to Trump’s 43 percent. Warren, meanwhile, holds a narrow 44 percent to 42 advantage.
