Saagar Enjeti dismisses new Biden campaign ad as ‘Hillary Clinton 2.0’

Hill.TV host Saagar Enjeti ripped former Vice President Joe Biden over a new ad, calling it “Hillary Clinton 2.0.”

“Joe Biden is giving these people absolutely zero reasons to change their calculus going into this election,” Enjeti said on Wednesday. “Sure this anodyne message may be enough to win him the Democratic primary, but how is he supposed to either pull new voters into the process or energize anyone to combat those who drove out to vote for Donald Trump.”

Enjeti added that the ad serves as a warning for his fellow 2020 contenders on what not to do.

“Candidates would do well to contrast their vision with his own,” he said referring to Biden. “Right now, it appears he’s winning this battle but poised to lose the war.”

In response to a request for comment on Enjeti’s remarks, Biden’s campaign asked, “Who?”

Biden on Tuesday released a new political ad, saying the 2020 election represents the battle for the soul of America.

“If Donald Trump is reelected, he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation,” Biden said in the ad.

Biden remains the front-runner in the crowded Democratic field. Though he falls behind in some key early voting stages, the former vice president has continued to maintain his lead on a national scale.

The RealClearPolitics average of national polls shows Biden with 27 percent support followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) at 19.7 percent. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) places third with 15 percent. No other candidate registers in the double digits.

Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, are also at the center of center of an impeachment inquiry. The House is set to vote on two articles of impeachment, including abuse of power concerning Trump’s attempt to pressure Ukraine into investigating the Bidens and obstruction of Congress for refusing to cooperate in the probe.
