Reporter Zaid Jilani on social views and party affiliations

Reporter Zaid Jilani said Monday that most people have a mix of “left wing” and “right wing” views, but he said people shift their beliefs based on tribalism within politics.

“The reality is most people have a mix of left wing or right wing views and those views change a lot over time. Often we shift just to fit in with our tribe,” Jilani said in an interview with The Hill.TV’s “Rising.”

Jilani said this is important because it suggest people’s political views can be flexible even if their deeply-held values are not.
