Reporter Jonathan Easley says Tuesday debate will be major test for Biden

Jonathan Easley, a campaign reporter for The Hill, said Tuesday’s presidential debate will be the first time in months that Democratic nominee Joe Biden faces tough questions from a journalist for a prolonged period of time.

“Biden has had a very safe strategy with not a lot of public appearances,” Easley told Hill.TV.

Easley said the Biden campaign’s strategy “appears to be working.”

“They can kind of sit back and play it safe and rely on these ads that they’re running in the battleground states,” he said.

The Biden campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised $365 million in August, gaining a $154 million cash advantage over the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee.

According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Biden is leading President Trump nationally and in several battleground states.
