Author Ryan Girdusky: Trump involvement ‘critical’ for GOP win in Georgia Senate runoff elections

Author Ryan Girdusky on Wednesday said that President Trump “has to get involved” in rallying support for Georgia Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in their runoff elections next month if the GOP wants to maintain a majority in the Senate.

During an interview on Hill.TV’s “Rising,” Girdusky, co-author of “They’re Not Listening: How The Elites Created the National Populist Revolution,” said that Trump’s support could help deliver the election to at least one of the Republicans.

If the base is there and feels like this election is stolen then it could not be enough at the end of the day, but I think Trump has to get involved,” Girdusky argued. “I don’t think there’s a choice in the matter.”

The author argued that among the most critical areas in the Southern state is the 9th congressional district, an area where Girdusky said that the Trump campaign did not run commercials and where there were 70,000 fewer votes than in surrounding districts.

That 70,000 votes would have flipped Georgia,” Girdusky said of the state that ultimately went for President-elect Joe Biden. “I think that is the most critical thing about getting that base out that just didn’t show up.”

Trump is scheduled to visit Georgia on Saturday to campaign alongside Perdue and Loeffler, according to The Associated Press
