Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter: ‘Huge turnout’ in Georgia Dem strongholds

Atlanta Journal-Constitution political reporter Greg Bluestein joined Hill.TV’s “Rising” on Tuesday to discuss the heated runoff battle for Georgia’s two Senate seats, which could give Democrats a majority in the upper chamber if they flip them both next month.

In an interview with Krystal Ball, Bluestein noted positive signs for Democrats in the state, including turnout in bastions such as Atlanta that is rivaling presidential election year levels.

“So it’s a little bit off presidential pace, but not by much. And really we’re seeing huge turnout in predominantly Democratic districts, the metro Atlanta suburbs…what they call predominantly Black rural Georgia counties,” Bluestein said.

Republicans, he added, are hoping for massive turnout on election day itself, Jan. 5, to counter the Democratic surge in early voting.
