New York Times media columnist Ben Smith told Hill.TV that President-elect Joe Biden’s administration is likely to reshape how reporters present news coverage and party conflict to their audiences.
“Biden ran on the promise to kind of do things in an old-fashioned way,” Smith told Hill.TV in an interview, noting the former vice president’s 2020 campaign message stressed “restoring normalcy.”
“I think his own relationship with the media, which is really important, like the president does set the tone — is going to be about reading print newspapers,” Smith said.
A post-election column by Smith said Biden is likely to revive the newspaper industry much like President Trump boosted cable news during his presidency.
