Sirota says Democrats showing ‘lack of urgency’ on stimulus checks

David Sirota, a progressive activist and founder of The Daily Poster, said that Democrats are showing “a lack of urgency” in passing another coronavirus stimulus bill.

Sirota appeared on Hill.TV’s “Rising” to discuss updates on new funding that Democrats promised to pass, and why Congress hasn’t moved faster on providing the direct payments to millions of Americans.

“What the Democrats are exuding here is a lack of urgency,” Sirota said.

“There is an urgent emergency unfolding that we are in the middle of, and when the Democrats saying you know ‘well, we’re not really talking about it very much,’ and ‘$1,400’ and ‘maybe it’ll be further means-tested’…it just sends the message that they’re not taking this message seriously and they don’t think it’s a time-sensitive crisis,” Sirota said.

Sirota continued by saying “If you behave like that, if you make promise and you don’t deliver, if you don’t look like you’re acting with urgency, then you should expect to pay a political price.”
