Author discusses decreased productivity with emailing

Author Cal Newport told Hill.TV that while emailing can allow for quick communications in the workplace, it can also lead to mental exhaustion.

“We need to find a way to do all of the different things that we do in our work without having to just wait in an inbox for messages to come back and forth,” Newport said, adding that ideal collaboration should minimize “unscheduled messages.”

Newport, author of “A World Without Email,” said there there should be more of a focus on understanding good and bad collaboration.
