Intercept bureau chief details turmoil in the Nevada Democratic Party

The Washington, D.C. bureau chief of The Intercept joined Hill.TV’s “Rising” on Tuesday to discuss the fallout from a takeover of the Nevada Democratic Party by supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) this week.

In an interview with co-hosts Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti, Grim described the chaos that occurred in the hours after Clark County Democratic Party chair Judith Whitmer defeated the county commissioner, Tick Segerblom, in an upset victory to chair the state party. Sanders supporters also took over most positions on the party’s board.

“The party had planning for that eventuality,” Grim said. “The party moved $450,000 out of the coffers and into the coffers of the [Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee].

“And also, all of the consultants severed their contracts,” he continued. “They took over a complete empty shell at this point.”
