Pollster Dalia Mogahed said on Wednesday that women are more likely than men to support progressive causes, such as Black Lives Matter.
“Even within the Muslim Community, women are, for example, are more likely than men to support a movement like Black Lives Matter,” Mogahed, director of research at the Institute of Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU), told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons on “What America’s Thinking.”
Mogahed was referring to an ISPU survey released in 2017 that found that three in four Muslim women support the Black Lives Matter movement.
“Women just tend to be more progressive, more focused on social issues, on social justice,” she continued.
A Pew Research Study released earlier this year found that 56 percent of women identify as Democrats, or say they lean Democratic, while 37 percent say they are Republican or lean Republican.
The study also found that the share of women identifying as Democrats or leaning-Democratic has risen 4 points since 2015.
Women are playing a key role in the upcoming midterm elections, with record numbers of them running for office.
A CNN survey published earlier this month found that 63 percent of women said they would vote for a Democrat in the midterms, while a third of those surveyed said they would vote for a Republican.
