People typically do not realize how much time they spend on the internet with their mobile devices, pollster Conor Maguire said in an interview that aired Thursday on Hill.TV’s “What America’s Thinking.”
“In some polls that we do, we talk about how much time do you spend on the internet, and they say none,” Maguire, a senior client strategist at WPA Intelligence, told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons. “But when you ask them how often do you go on Facebook on your phone, they say all the time. People don’t really make that connection, but the fact is a lot of people, and definitely rural America, are spending a lot of time just on their phones connecting to the internet.”
About 77 percent of U.S. adults said they own a smartphone, according to a Pew Research Center survey published last year.
A Pew survey published earlier this year found that 20 percent of Americans say they are “smartphone-only” internet users, meaning they use a smartphone instead of a traditional broadband internet service for internet access.
