Dem pollster says liberals have failed at weaponizing social media

Democratic pollster Anna Greenberg said in an interview that aired Thursday on “Rising” that liberals have not weaponized social media the same way conservatives do.

“Liberals have actually been fairly ineffective at weaponizing social media,” Greenberg, a partner at Greenberg Quinlan Rosener, told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons on Thursday.

“They’ve been very good at using it for fundraising and other sorts of things, but in terms of weaponizing it has been much less effective,” she continued.

“The way the right, and outside international influences, they’ve been using assets and infrastructure in social media for years. It didn’t just start in 2016, it started long before that, and that’s something, again on the left, you don’t have that kind of infrastructure,” she said.

Conservatives, including President Trump, have used social media to publicly attack political opponents and critics.

Greenberg’s comments come as various conservatives raise concerns over what they say is censorship from liberals at social media companies.

A new American Barometer survey, conducted by Hill.TV and the HarrisX polling company, found that 58 percent of registered voters think social media companies are unfair to conservatives.
