Republican pollster B.J. Martino called for the college admissions process in the U.S. to be drastically reformed in an interview that aired on Thursday amid the recent college admissions bribery scandal.
“We really need to get into the college admissions process and begin to pull it apart,” Martino, a partner at the Tarrance Group, told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons on Wednesday.
“We need to get into this digging back into the dirty underbelly of the college admissions process,” he said. “We’re seeing now in the lawsuits against some of these celebrities and others who have used their wealth to get their children into colleges. There’s a lot in there.”
Martino also said the issue of legacy admissions in particular needs to be examined.
More than 40 parents, including Hollywood actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, were charged last month in what the Justice Department has called the “largest college admissions scam ever prosecuted by the Department of Justice.”
