Democratic pollster says Warren’s move to skip Fox News town halls goes with her brand

A Democratic pollster said on Thursday Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-Mass.) decision not to participate in a Fox News town hall lines up with her progressive brand.

“You have someone like Elizabeth Warren whose brand is very different from the rest of the candidates,” Pia Nargundkar, a senior associate at ALG Research, told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons on “What America’s Thinking.”

Warren announced earlier this month she would not take part in a debate on the network, calling it a “hate-for-profit machine.”

“She came out with a very strongly worded statement saying I won’t go on Fox News on principal, not because of what the voters say, I don’t want to be used to…credential them or give them any money,” Nargundkar said.

“Elizabeth Warren got major credentials from the Democratic Party activists, and the liberal base for sort of saying I’m not doing Fox and here’s why, and the why really speaking to how the liberal base sees Fox News as this entity that’s not neutral, that is sort of in the ear of President Trump,” she continued.

Other Democratic candidates, including Warren’s progressive counterpart, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and Mayor Pete Buttigieg have partaken in Fox News town halls.

Fox News announced on Thursday that former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro would be participating in a town hall on the network in June.
