President Trump’s approval rating has dropped slightly among women over the past month, according to a Hill-HarrisX poll released on Thursday.
The survey finds that 42 percent of women approve of Trump’s job performance, a 3-point drop from an identical poll conducted between July 20 and 21.
Trump’s overall approval among suburban voters, meanwhile, has held steady at 44 percent over the past month.
HarrisX researchers surveyed 2,002 registered voters online from August 18-20. The poll has an overall margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.
The poll comes as Trump looks to energize support among women, particularly suburban women, who are considered a crucial voting bloc ahead of the 2020 elections.
Trump’s reelection campaign announced Thursday that it plans to launch a cross-country effort aimed at mobilizing suburban women. Dozens of female surrogates are set to reach out to female voters in suburban areas in at least 13 states to encourage them to vote Republican.
Campaign officials have billed the initiative as a celebration of women’s suffrage. Trump’s campaign will officially unveil its strategy during an event in Tampa, Fla. on Thursday evening centered around the 99th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which guarantees women the right to vote.
Several of the states being targeted by the Trump campaign are areas that helped deliver Democrats a victory in winning back the House during the 2018 midterm elections. CNN exit polls showed that women supported Democrats over Republicans in the 2018 elections by a 19-point margin.
