Voters are more likely to say the media is biased in favor of Democrats when it comes to the #MeToo movement, according to a new Hill-HarrisX poll.
A plurality of registered voters in the April 26-27 poll believe the media fairly covers sexual assault allegations against members of both parties; 47 percent when it comes to allegations against Democratic politicians and 46 percent when it comes to Republican politicians.
However, voters were 14 percentage points more likely to cite media bias in favor of Democrats (34 percent-19 percent) than Republicans (20 percent-34 percent).
Women voters in the survey were more likely than men to say media coverage of sexual assault allegations is fair across both parties.
Additionally, Democratic voters were also more likely to say the media is unbiased in its reporting at 57 percent, but one-quarter said the media does favor Democrats when covering the issue.
Among Republican voters, a bare majority (51 percent) said the media favors Democrats when reporting on sexual assault, while the same amount of voters said the media is biased again Republicans.
Both President Trump and Democratic White House hopeful and former Vice President Joe Biden currently have sexual assault allegations against them.
Multiple women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct or assault.
Former Biden staffer, Tara Reade, has accused the former Delaware senator of sexual assault when she worked for him in the 1990s.
Scrutiny in fair media coverage has been mounting as new corroborating reports have come to light in the case against Biden.
Both Trump and Biden have denied any accusations against them.
The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 930 registered voters between April 26 and 27. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
