A vast majority of voters say it’s likely that there will be another round of stimulus checks in the future, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.
Seventy-five percent of registered voters in the Jan. 21-22 survey said it is likely there will be another round of stimulus checks, including 35 percent who said it’s very likely and 39 percent who said it’s somewhat likely.
By contrast, 25 percent of respondents said it’s unlikely more direct payments will occur.
The survey found 87 percent of Democrats said Americans are likely to see another round of direct payments along with 72 percent of independents and 65 percent of Republicans.
The recent polling comes following the unveiling of President Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief plan that includes funding for vaccine distribution, as well as $1,400 stimulus checks. However, Biden’s push was met with criticism from Republican lawmakers, many of whom have said there are non-starters included in the package.
Recent Hill-HarrisX data found 55 percent of voters are confident in Biden’s ability to rebuild the post-pandemic recovery. In addition, 61 percent of respondents in a previous Hill-HarrisX poll approve of the new president’s handling of the economy.
The most recent Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 941 registered voters. It has a margin of error of 3.19 percentage points.
