Poll: Majority says a person who finds compromises between the two parties would do a better job in Congress

More than eight in 10 voters say a person who finds compromises between the two political parties would do a better job in Congress, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.

Eighty-three percent of registered voters in the Feb. 24-26 survey said the type of person who is interested in making deals and finding compromises between the two parties would do a better job of representing them in Congress.

By contrast, 17 percent said a person who is more interested in using the media and social media to show the differences between the two parties would do a better job.

Majorities across party lines agree a person who makes deals and finds compromise would do a better job over a person who uses the media and social media to find differences between the two parties.

Eighty-four percent of Republicans and Democrats, and 82 percent of independents say a person who finds compromises would do a better job on Capitol Hill.

The most recent Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 1,909 registered voters. It has a margin of error of 2.24 percentage points.
