A majority of voters have at least some confidence in Vice President Kamala Harris’s ability to handle the border crisis, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.
Fifty-six percent of registered voters in the April 2-5 survey said they have a great deal or some confidence in Harris’s ability to handle the situation at the border, including 26 percent who said they have a great deal of confidence and 30 percent who said they have some confidence.
By contrast, 44 percent of respondents said they have not much or no confidence at all, including 12 percent who said they don’t have much confidence in Harris and 32 percent who said they have none.
Roughly half of Democrats said they have a great deal of confidence, at 47 percent.
Meanwhile, 62 percent of Republican voter said they have no confidence at all in Harris’s ability to handle the situation at the border.
President Biden has tasked Harris as the lead point person on immigration amid a surge of migrants arriving at the U.S. southern border.
The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 1,882 registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.87 percentage points.
