Six in 10 voters give President Biden positive marks on his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, saying in a new Hill-HarrisX poll that he has done “a lot” or “everything he could” to get the pandemic under control.
About a third of voters, 32 percent, say Biden has done everything he could to get the pandemic under control in his first 100 days in office. Another 28 percent said he has done “a lot” to contain the virus.
Meanwhile, 21 percent of respondents in the May 3-4 poll said they believe Biden has done “almost nothing” to get the pandemic under control and 19 percent said he “could have done more” in his first few months.
Among Democrats, 52 percent said Biden has done everything he could to handle the pandemic while 35 percent say he has done “a lot.”
By contrast, 40 percent of Republicans said Biden has done almost nothing to control the virus and 26 percent said he could have done more.
Biden’s first few months in office have largely been focused on the rollout of the coronavirus vaccine. According to federal data, roughly 32 percent of Americans and over 41 percent of adults are now fully vaccinated.
The president on Tuesday announced a goal to administer at least one shot of the coronavirus vaccine to 70 percent of U.S. adults by July 4.
The most recent Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 939 registered voters. It has a margin of error of 3.2 percentage points.
