Poll: 38 percent of voters say they are more proud to be American today than last year

Roughly four in 10 voters said they are more proud to be American today compared to last year, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.

Thirty-eight percent of registered voters in the June 29-July 1 survey said they are more proud to be American today compared to this time in 2020.

By contrast, 24 percent of respondents said they are less proud to be an American compared to last year while another 38 percent said they are about as proud.

Fifty-one percent of Democrats said they are more proud to be American today while 13 percent said they are less proud and 36 percent said they are about as proud.

Fewer than half as many Republican respondents, 20 percent, said they are more proud to be American compared to last year while 39 percent said they are less proud and 40 percent said they have about the same amount of pride as last year.

Forty-five percent of independent voters said they feel more proud today than last year while 15 percent said they less proud and 40 percent said they are about as proud as one year ago.

The most recent Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 941 registered voters. It has a margin of error of 3.19 percentage points.
