A majority of U.S. voters say they think that the government is holding back information about unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), also known as UFOs, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.
Sixty percent of registered voters surveyed in the July 8-9 poll said the government is withholding information about the military’s observations of UAPs.
By contrast, 40 percent of voters said it is being forthright with Congress and the American people.
At least half of the respondents of both parties said they didn’t think that the government was being completely forthright.
Seventy-six percent of Republican respondents said the government is holding back information while 24 percent said they think it is being forthright.
Fifty-three percent of independent voters and half of the Democratic voters said the government is keeping information from the public.
Last month, the government released the long-awaited report on UFO sightings revealed little new information, with nearly all 144 encounters remaining a mystery.
In a June 17-18 Hill-HarrisX survey, 70 percent of voters said the U.S. government has more information about UAPs than it is currently telling the public.
