A plurality of voters said the U.S. has done too little to investigate the origins of the coronavirus, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.

Forty-five percent of registered voters in the Aug. 2-3 survey said the U.S. has done too little to investigate the origins of the pandemic.

Forty-three percent said the U.S. has done just enough while 12 percent said too much has been done.

Along party lines, nearly 70 percent of Republicans said the U.S. has done too little to find out the origins of COVID-19 while 22 percent said just enough and 9 percent said too little.

Sixty-two percent of Democrats said the U.S. has done just enough while 24 percent said too little has been done. Fourteen percent of Democrats said the U.S. has done too much.

Forty-Five percent of independents said the U.S. has done just enough to investigate the origins of the pandemic while 43 percent said too little and 11 percent said too much.

A Republican House Foreign Affairs Committee probe recently released information that points to the theory that the pandemic outbreak stemmed from a genetically modified virus that leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The Biden administration is also pursuing an investigation to determine the origins of the pandemic outbreak.

The most recent Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 945 registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.19 percentage points.
